Governance of irrigation networks in the Mediterranean Basin.

Aigo 2012  is a techday organised by the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur water users’ associations (WUA) and the Société du Canal de Provence et d’aménagement de la région provençale (acronym SCP).

This techday will be held on Wednesday 14 March 2012 during the forthcoming World Water Forum in Marseille.

It will be devoted to agricultural irrigation networks and used to demonstrate that the original approach applied in Provence is capable of meeting the challenges facing both today and tomorrow’s world.

Entitled "Aigo 2012" and fully integrated in the 6th World Water Forum (from 12 to 17 March 2012), this techday will use this opportunity of the largest gathering of players in world water to promote the original approach adopted in Provence to managing irrigation water.

The organisers of this techday will use it to share their experiences of the collective management of a water resource in Provence based on the complementary collaboration of two administrative structures, the water users’ associations (WUAs) and a public and privately financed regional development company (SCP).

Aigo 2012 is backed by the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur regional authority and the Rhone-Mediterranean-Corsica River Agency (Agence de l’Eau Rhône, Méditerranée et Corse).
